My newest painting is modeled after a photograph of me holding my son, Charlie. These are a few of the steps I went through to create the painting. I used an Apple Pencil and the software called Procreate. It’s very calming and relaxing for me to paint this way. I love playing with color and texture, with the different layers upon layers.
This Week at Emily Lupita Studio – Christmas Paintings ~ Early Bird Sale until Dec. 1st
This week I’m so happy to have finished a new collection of Guadalupe paintings.
These paintings are a series of four Irodori Japanese Watercolor and Sakura Ink originals with bright, festive colors.
[Click on the photos to see more views of each painting in my online shop.]
The paintings express my love of the Christmas season and my admiration for my namesake, the Patron Saint of Mexico, Our Lady of Guadalupe.
I loved experimenting with different patterns and colors, while maintaining the same form throughout the series. All four sisters look completely different, yet definitely belong together.
These four new paintings, along with my Guadalupe King & Queen paintings, are all on display together at the MSAA Gallery for the holiday season. A wonderful time to stop by is during the beautiful candlelight shopping event on the Marietta Square every Friday night until Christmas.
I’m also offering these designs as custom paintings. If you order a custom painting, you have the option to choose custom colors for hair color, eye color, and skin tone for any of the designs…as well as if you’d like her eyes open or closed. I’m having an Early Bird Sale in my online shop right now that includes 10% off all custom paintings until December 1st.
The View from my Art Desk – Turkish Art Pendants – Friends & Family First Pick – Reserve by Thursday
The view of my art desk this week is filled with bright colors from my new collection of Turkish artwork pendants. They will be up in my online shop for just a few days…until Thursday evening, November 20th.
The designs inside the pendants are beautiful Turkish gilded artwork. I then encased the art under glassand made them into pendants.
I also have brand new square pendants! I think these are just lovely and unique.
And the very first pieces of my “Geometric” collection – made from my abstract watercolor artwork – are finished as well. These are super bright and happy.
I’m offering my readers first pick of these cool pendants. If you see one you love, please reserve in my online shop by Thursday evening, November 20th.
Once a pair is reserved, I will take it off the list and there will never be another one exactly like it. On Friday I’ll be sending them to the fabulous new Nite Gallery opening in my hometown of Albia, Iowa.
The View from my Art Desk – New Turkish Artwork Earrings – 2 Day Reserve Sale
I just finished a new collection of handmade art earrings and I’ve fallen in love with them. I feel like this is my most beautiful collection yet.
The designs inside the earrings are amazing Turkish gilded artwork that I found while wondering around inside the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. I matched the different designs up in pairs, then encased the art under glassand fixed them into earrings.
I want to give my readers first pick of these beauties – if you see one you love, please reserve at this link in my online shop by Monday evening, November 3rd. Once a pair is reserved, I will take it off the list and there will never be another one exactly like it.
The reason for the quick, 2 day only reserve sale is that on Tuesday I’ll be taking the collection of earrings over to the fabulous store, The Local Exchange, located on the Historic Marietta Square in Marietta, Georgia. The earrings (and my Christmas ornaments & Christmas cards) will will be available for the holiday season there starting with their Holiday Open House this Friday.
These will be a bit hard to let go of…I may have to give each one a hug goodbye. (I had a moment where I thought maybe I’d tuck them all away in my own jewelry box.) But what I love the most about making art is being able to share it – and sharing these bright, beautiful Turkish artwork earrings with you is a little dream come true.
The final few days of my Kickstarter project are here! (The project ends on October 31st.) I’m truly grateful to the 55 amazing people who’ve backed my project so far. I now have 93% of the total pledges needed to fund The Artist’s Alphabet book. Almost there…
This has been one of the busiest weeks here at my studio and also one of the very best. I’ve been enjoying the time I spend each day working on finishing up all the details of the book design. These are two screen shots from my latest layout to give you an idea of how the book will look when finished. (I also shared a few different screen shots on my Emily Lupita Studio Facebook page earlier this week if you’d like to see more.)
I added a colorful first letter to the title word on each definition page as well as a fancy text divider underneath to better balance out the spacing . I still have a few more definitions to write because it takes me awhile to think of how I want to phrase each definition & I go through so many drafts for each word.
The book cover is coming along nicely. I still need to format it to the printer’s specifications, but this is the latest design I’m working with as of today:
It’s hard to believe my Kickstarter project will end on October 31st, only four days from now. It’s been an incredible journey so far and I’m excited to see where the next four days will take me.
Sending you all many heartfelt thanks for your support & encouragement,
